Ballroom dances have grown popular in the course of the years in both aspects of recreation and competition. They are categorized into two the international standard and the American ballroom dance. The international ballroom dances have appealed to many individuals. Ballroom dance is an art designed not only to entertain but to send a particular message. There are various types of ballroom dances namely the waltz, the Viennese waltz , foxtrot and tango among others. Having information on the various types of ballroom dances will ease the task of selecting the most preferable for a person.
The waltz has been identified as a smooth dance. This dance involves movement along a line of dance. It is characterized by a rise and fall movement that results from taking a step a slide and a three quarter step. The shoulders of the dancers have to be aligned with the floor in a smooth fashion. The objective is usually to increase the step taken. The first step see the dancers step on their heels it goes on to the ball of the feet in the second step the third step sees the dances elevate their toes. At the conclusion of the third step the feet should be returned to their initial position.
The Viennese waltz is comprised of rotational movements and has a reputation of being classical. The dance partners do a revolving movement around each other while rotating on the floor. The acceleration applied in this dance beats the one in the classical waltz. There is a popular version of it for social events as it is basically not strenuous and can be effected with ease. It features sweeping turns and graceful motions that exude an image of simplicity and elegance.
The foxtrot dance is characterized by walking steps and side steps. Long steps alongside the rise and fall motion present in the waltz are incorporated in a more subtle manner. The dance line shares some resemblance with that of a waltz but the diversity is portrayed clearly in the timing. The steps may be quickened or slowed utilizing a beat or two in that order.
The tango has appealed to a larger audience. It’s reception may be due to its characteristic romantic ambience associated with it. The participants are often a man and a woman. It is comprised of distinct dance steps all under the same wing. Depending on the kind, they may be danced in an open or closed embrace.
